Roofing invoice generator for US roofers and roofing contractors
Create a US roofing invoice for roof repair, storm damage, full tear-off, roof replacement, flat roofing, shingles, metal roofing, tile, flashing, gutters, deck repair, ventilation, disposal, permits, warranties and insurance-claim support.
Roofing invoices need property and scope detail that a generic contractor invoice misses. Homeowners, carriers, adjusters, landlords and property managers want to see the service address, roof squares, material system, tear-off, disposal, warranty and claim references in one place.
What a US roofing invoice should include
A roofing invoice should match the estimate, contract, adjuster scope or work authorization. It should also leave a clear record for warranty questions and state tax review.
- Roofing company name, address, phone, email, payment details and contractor license where applicable.
- Customer, billing address, property address and site contact.
- Job, estimate, contract, work order, permit or insurance claim reference.
- Roof type, material system and roof area in squares where relevant.
- Tear-off, disposal, deck repair, underlayment, shingles, metal, tile, membrane, flashing, ridge, vents and gutters on separate lines.
- Labor, materials, permit fees, dumpster, haul-off, supplements and change orders separated.
- Manufacturer material warranty, workmanship warranty, exclusions and balance due.
Insurance claims, supplements and property records
For storm or claim work, include carrier, claim number, policy number and supplement reference when available. The invoice should identify what was actually completed, not just repeat the initial estimate.
Separate deductible payments, insurance payments, homeowner upgrades and change orders so the payer can reconcile the job without guessing which charges were claim-related.
Roof safety, permits and work documentation
OSHA's residential fall-protection resources point to regulations and compliance assistance for fall protection in residential construction. The invoice is not a safety plan, but the billing record should still identify the roof scope, access-related charges, permit or inspection references and disposal lines.
Sales tax and capital-improvement review
State contractor rules vary. New York distinguishes capital improvements from taxable repair, maintenance and installation work, while Texas has separate rules for residential repair, nonresidential repair, lump-sum contracts and separated contracts.
Keep materials, labor, disposal, permits and supplements separate. An insurance-funded re-roof still follows the state contractor tax rule for the job; the fact that an insurer is involved does not by itself decide taxability.
Common US roofing invoice mistakes
- Leaving out the property address or roof area.
- Not separating tear-off, deck repair, underlayment, roofing material, flashing, ventilation and gutters.
- Using one vague warranty line instead of separating manufacturer material warranty and workmanship warranty.
- Omitting claim number, policy number or carrier on insurance-funded work.
- Treating all roof work as taxable or non-taxable without checking state contractor rules.
- Not showing permit, inspection, disposal or supplement references where they apply.
