Towing invoice generator for US tow operators, impound lots and recovery jobs

Create a US towing invoice for roadside assistance, private-property tow, police-ordered tow, accident recovery, winching, storage, release fees and insurance or fleet billing. The PDF includes vehicle details, license plate, pickup location, destination, case reference and itemized service lines.

US towing paperwork is state and city specific, especially for nonconsensual tows. Use this generator for a clear billing document, then add the license numbers, fee-schedule references, storage notices and hearing-rights language your jurisdiction requires.

What a US towing invoice should include

A towing invoice needs enough detail to match the charge to one vehicle, one tow and one storage or release event. This is especially important for insurers, fleet accounts, body shops, police-ordered tows and private-property nonconsent tows.

  • Towing company legal name, phone, address, licence or permit numbers where required and payment details.
  • Customer, insurer, fleet account, repair shop, police agency or property manager reference.
  • Vehicle year, make, model, color, VIN if available, license plate and state.
  • Pickup or incident location, destination, storage facility and tow date/time.
  • Dispatch, hookup, mileage, winching, recovery labor, after-hours surcharge, storage days, notification, admin and release fees on separate lines.
  • Authorization, tow ticket, police report, claim, lien or storage terms in the notes field.

Nonconsensual tow itemization

Several states require detailed tow tickets or itemized bills for nonconsent, private-property or police-ordered tows. Texas TDLR, for example, says nonconsent tow tickets must itemize each charge and show the licensed towing company name, public phone number, certificate-of-registration number and operator licence number.

Keep hookup, mileage, storage, notification, impound, admin and release fees separate. Do not roll them into one vague towing total when state law, a fee schedule or an insurer may require charge-by-charge review.

Sales tax, storage and local fee caps

Towing taxability and fee caps vary by state and municipality. Some states tax many towing or storage services, others treat parts of roadside assistance differently and many regulate nonconsensual tow rates separately from consensual roadside jobs.

Enter your own rates and tax position after checking local rules. If the vehicle enters storage, show each storage day and release-related fee separately, with the date range or pickup deadline in the notes.

Insurance and fleet billing

For insurance, fleet or body-shop billing, include the claim number, fleet unit, purchase order, policy reference or shop repair order. The invoice should tell the reviewer why the vehicle was moved, where it went and which charges were authorized.
