How to use a Malta hotel invoice template
A hotel invoice template is useful for a front desk that wants a reusable master file for every stay. In Malta, that file should show check-in/out dates, room, guests, board basis, 7% VAT on accommodation and the Environmental/Eco Contribution on its own line, separate from VAT.
Fields to keep in the template
- Accommodation name, address, VAT number and MTA licence reference.
- Check-in/check-out dates, room/unit, guests and booking reference.
- Board basis and room charge at 7% VAT.
- Environmental/Eco Contribution on a separate, non-VAT line.
- Any restaurant, spa or parking extras on separate 18% VAT lines.
VAT and the Eco Contribution
Licensed tourist accommodation is taxed at the 7% reduced VAT rate; food & beverage and other extras are typically standard-rated at 18% unless separately reduced, so keep them on their own invoice lines.
The Environmental/Eco Contribution is a separate, non-VAT levy — €1.50 per adult per night from 1 July 2026, capped at €22.50 per person per stay (previously €0.50/night). Show it as its own line, distinct from the VAT-bearing room charge.
