Cleaning services invoice generator for Malta
Create an invoice for domestic or commercial cleaning in Malta with the service address, service date or period, frequency, contract/job reference and who supplies cleaning products, at the standard 18% VAT rate.
Cleaning is not listed anywhere in Malta's reduced-rate VAT schedule, so both residential and commercial cleaning fall to the standard 18% rate.
What a Malta cleaning invoice should include
- Business/cleaner name, address, VAT number (if Article 10-registered) and payment details.
- Service address, if different from the billing address.
- Service date or period, frequency and type of clean (one-off, weekly, deep clean, move-out clean).
- Contract/job reference for commercial or janitorial clients, and who supplies cleaning products.
- Standard 18% VAT on the service and any materials.
VAT — and a distinction worth getting right
Both residential/domestic cleaning and commercial/office cleaning are standard-rated at 18% VAT in Malta — cleaning is not one of the services listed in the reduced-rate schedules (12%, 7%, 5% or 0%).
Do not confuse commercial or residential cleaning with Malta's separate 5% reduced rate for "domestic care services" — home help and the care of young, elderly, sick or disabled persons. That reduced rate applies to care services, not to cleaning a home or office, so a cleaning invoice should never show 5% VAT on that basis.
No cleaning-specific trade licence was identified beyond standard business registration (Jobsplus/MTCA/BusinessFirst) — this has not been exhaustively confirmed, so check current requirements if in doubt.
