Hairdresser & beauty salon invoice generator for Malta

Create an invoice for hairdressing, beauty, nail-technician or spa services in Malta with the stylist/technician name, appointment date, service type, products sold and standard 18% VAT.

Hairdressing and beauty services in Malta are standard-rated at 18% VAT — there is no reduced rate for this industry, and it must not be confused with the unrelated 5% rate for minor clothing/household-linen repairs.

What a Malta salon invoice should include

  • Salon/business name, address, VAT number (if Article 10-registered) and payment details.
  • Stylist/technician name, appointment date and service type/category.
  • Products sold to the client, shown separately from services.
  • Standard 18% VAT on the full service.

VAT — and a rate not to confuse it with

Hairdressing, beauty treatments and nail services are standard-rated at 18% VAT — no reduced rate applies. Malta does have a 5% reduced rate, but it covers "minor repairs of clothing and household linen" — an entirely unrelated category — so a salon invoice should never show 5% VAT on that basis.

Licensing — a Health Certificate is required

A Health Certificate issued by the Environmental Health Directorate (part of the Healthcare Standards Directorate) is required before operating as a hairdresser, beautician or nail technician in Malta. Obtaining it requires an on-site inspection visit to the premises.

Many salon premises also need a local council permit covering building/safety compliance, alongside the Health Certificate.
