Garage invoice generator for Gibraltar mechanics
Create a Gibraltar garage invoice for servicing, diagnostics, repairs, parts, labour and Roadworthiness Test related work. Add vehicle details, VIN, odometer, repair order and technician, split parts from labour, and download a clean PDF.
Gibraltar has never charged VAT or a general sales tax, and that remains true for repair labour in 2026. A new Transaction Tax applies only to goods, collected at import rather than charged to the customer — so a Gibraltar garage invoice normally needs no tax field at all.
What to include on a Gibraltar garage invoice
- Vehicle year, make, model, VIN and license plate.
- Odometer reading and repair order or job number.
- Parts and labour listed on separate lines.
- Roadworthiness Test reference if the visit relates to that inspection.
- Warranty terms for parts and labour.
No VAT on repair labour — what the 2026 Transaction Tax changes
Gibraltar has no VAT and no general sales tax on services, and the Gibraltar Government has stated explicitly that the new Transaction Tax — reported as effective from 10 April 2026 by an official government announcement, though some secondary sources cite 15 July 2026 — applies only to goods, not services. Repair labour stays untaxed; do not add a tax line to this invoice.
Parts the garage buys in as goods may carry Transaction Tax at import (starting at 15%, rising to 16% then 17% over the following two years), but that is a cost to the garage, not a line item charged to the customer. Passing on a flat price rise to cover it — without it reflecting an actual cost change — is the exact practice the Gibraltar Government has publicly warned against.
Roadworthiness Test
Gibraltar's own MOT-equivalent is the Roadworthiness Test, administered by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department (DVLD) under the Ministry of Transport, Traffic and Technical Services. Private vehicles over 4 years old are tested biennially; goods, self-drive and PSV vehicles annually; PSVs over 12 years old every 6 months. If your garage handles pre-test checks or remedial work, reference the test in the repair order or notes.
Consumer protection
Gibraltar's Office of Fair Trading (OFT), part of the Ministry of Commerce and established in October 2015, handles consumer advice, investigations and enforcement under the Fair Trading Act 2015 (substantially updated by the Fair Trading Act 2023, in force from 1 October 2023). Keep repair authorizations and warranty terms documented in case of a dispute.
