How to make a logo for a UK business

Most logo makers hand you a grid of generic marks and a signup form. This one starts from what your business actually is: there are separate template sets for scaffolders, gas engineers, end-of-tenancy cleaners and 450 other trades, because a scaffolding logo and a beauty salon logo should not come out of the same box.

Everything is editable on this page — no separate app to load, no account, and the SVG download is free. If you are a sole trader who needs a mark for a van, an invoice and a Facebook page by tomorrow, that is the whole job.

Start from your trade, not from a blank canvas

Pick your trade and the grid fills with logos already sized, coloured and lettered for it. Every template is a real starting point rather than a placeholder: the icon set is filtered to marks that make sense for the work, and the colour palettes follow the conventions customers already read — fresh blues and teals for cleaning, high-contrast industrial tones for construction and the trades, soft premium tones for beauty and wellbeing.

  1. Choose your trade from the list, or search for it.
  2. Type your business name over the placeholder. The layout re-fits itself as you type — long names do not get clipped.
  3. Tap a different template in the grid to try another look. Your name and colours carry across.
  4. Use Shuffle if you want to see alternatives you would not have picked yourself.
  5. Download the SVG, or the full kit with transparent PNGs, favicon and social sizes.

Long business names are the test most templates fail

UK trading names run long — "Hartley & Fox Roofing & Guttering Ltd" is unremarkable. Fixed-size templates either shrink that to illegibility or run it off the edge. Here the type re-flows and rebalances as you type, the icon gives up space before the name does, and the result stays readable at favicon size. Try pasting your full registered name into the field and watch what happens.

What you get, and what it costs

Nothing. There is no free tier with a paid download, which is the trick most logo sites run: design free, pay to save. You get the vector SVG, transparent PNGs at five sizes, a favicon, an Apple touch icon and social-media canvases, in one ZIP, with no account.
