Free electronic signature tool – draw, type or sign a PDF online
This free e-signature tool lets you create a professional electronic signature in seconds — no account, no software, and no cost. Draw with your finger or mouse, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a PDF and place your signature directly on the document.
Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your documents and signatures are never uploaded to a server, so your privacy is protected by design.
What is an electronic signature?
An electronic signature — sometimes called an e-signature or digital signature — is any electronic means of indicating your agreement to the contents of a document. This includes typed names, drawn signatures, scanned images of a handwritten signature, or cryptographic signatures.
E-signatures are widely used for contracts, agreements, invoices, and other documents where a handwritten signature would traditionally be required.
How to create a free e-signature online
- Open the Draw tab and sign using your mouse, trackpad, or finger on a touchscreen.
- Alternatively, open the Type tab, enter your name, and choose a handwriting style.
- Click "Download Signature" to save your signature as a PNG image with a transparent background.
- To sign a document directly, open the "Sign a Document" tab, upload your PDF or image file, and drag your signature into position.
- Resize the signature by dragging the corner handle, then click "Download Signed Document".
How to draw a signature online
Select the Draw tab and use your mouse, trackpad, stylus, or finger to sign on the canvas. Use Undo to remove your last stroke, or Clear to start again.
You can change the pen colour and thickness before you begin. When you are happy with your signature, download it as a transparent PNG.
How to type a signature online
Select the Type tab and enter your name. Choose from several professional handwriting-style fonts and preview how your signature looks.
Your typed signature is rendered as a high-quality image and can be downloaded as a transparent PNG, ready to paste into documents or emails.
How to sign a PDF online
Open the "Sign a Document" tab and upload your PDF. The document is rendered in your browser — nothing is sent to any server.
Draw or type your signature in the Draw or Type tabs, then switch to the Sign a Document tab. Your signature will appear as a draggable overlay. Position and resize it, then download the signed PDF.
Privacy and security
This tool processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript. No file is uploaded to our servers at any point. Your document stays on your device throughout.
This is a deliberate design choice — not just a privacy policy promise. The tool cannot send your document anywhere because the architecture does not include a file upload endpoint.
When should you use an e-signature?
Electronic signatures are suitable for a wide range of everyday documents including contracts, service agreements, invoices, NDAs, rental agreements, and letters of authorisation.
For documents with specific legal or regulatory requirements — such as deeds, wills, or regulated financial products — you should check the applicable rules in your jurisdiction or consult a solicitor.

However, certain documents — such as deeds and wills — have additional formal requirements. Always check the specific legal rules for your document type.
