Plumbing invoice generator for Australia

Create an Australian plumbing invoice for call-outs, leak repairs, drain cleaning, hot water work, gas plumbing, backflow, parts, labour, emergency charges, certificates and warranty notes. Add the service address, licence number, job reference, plumber, parts, labour, GST and compliance details, then download a PDF.

Australian plumbing invoices need to identify the property, the licensed practitioner and the compliance context. Plumbing licensing is state and territory based, while the National Construction Code includes plumbing and drainage requirements through the Plumbing Code of Australia.

What an Australian plumbing invoice should include

The service address is essential for plumbing work. Landlords, strata managers, insurers and commercial customers often approve invoices by matching the bill to a unit, fixture, maintenance request or work order.

  • Plumbing business name, ABN, contact details and payment details.
  • Customer, billing address, service address and site contact.
  • Plumbing licence number, practitioner name and certificate reference where relevant.
  • Job reference, work order, service date, call-out time and emergency notes.
  • Diagnostic visit, labour, parts, fittings, drainage, hot water, gas plumbing and disposal as separate lines.
  • GST if registered, payment terms and warranty notes.

Licensing, certificates and state rules

business.gov.au notes that licences and permits depend on the activity, state or territory and local government area. Plumbing is one of the trades where customers often expect licence details and certificate references on the paperwork.

If your state requires a compliance certificate or similar record for the job, add the certificate number or lodgement reference to the invoice notes. The invoice is the billing record, not the certificate itself.

NCC and Plumbing Code context

The Australian Building Codes Board publishes the National Construction Code. Volume Three is the Plumbing Code of Australia and covers plumbing and drainage requirements adopted through state and territory regulation.

For practical billing, this means the invoice should identify the work area, fixture, pipework, drain, hot-water unit or gas appliance so the customer can connect the charge to the compliance record.

GST, parts and customer-supplied fixtures

If the plumber is GST-registered, taxable plumbing work normally uses Tax Invoice wording with ABN and GST shown. If not registered, do not add GST.

Separate labour, call-out, parts, fixtures and customer-supplied materials. If a customer supplied a tap, toilet, vanity, pump or hot-water part, note that clearly because warranty coverage may differ.

Common Australian plumbing invoice mistakes

  • Leaving out the service address or unit number.
  • Not showing the plumbing licence or certificate reference where expected.
  • Bundling diagnosis, labour, parts and emergency charges into one vague line.
  • Adding GST while not registered for GST.
  • Not identifying customer-supplied fixtures or warranty exclusions.
  • Using a generic contractor invoice that loses plumbing compliance detail.
